The President of the Islamic Development Bank discusses with the Ambassador of Uzbekistan preparations for holding the Bank's annual meeting in Tashkent

Jeddah (UNA) - The President of the Islamic Development Bank, Dr. Bandar Hajjar, met yesterday, Wednesday, in Jeddah, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ulugbek Maksudov. The meeting discussed the ongoing preparations for holding the next annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank in Uzbekistan, the level of coordination between the technical teams between the two sides, the projects implemented by the bank in Uzbekistan, such as the road linking Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan, and the bank's support for the Imam Al-Bukhari Center as a scientific and cultural beacon. The meeting touched on the request of the Government of Uzbekistan to the Islamic Development Bank to support the proposed regional railway project between Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Dr. Hajjar affirmed the Islamic Development Bank's support for this regional project, and said: One of the bank's goals is to support regional integration and increase cooperation among member states. The President of the Bank expressed his sincere thanks to the Government of Uzbekistan for its continuous support to the IDB Group. He affirmed the Bank Group's commitment to strengthening its relationship with Uzbekistan and discussing all means that support the long-term partnership between the two sides. For his part, His Excellency the Ambassador affirmed that his country continues its intensive preparations to host the annual meeting of the bank in order to ensure that it is held in a way that reflects the developed relationship between his country and the bank, and praised the cooperation and coordination between the bank and his country at various levels. The total approvals of the Islamic Development Bank Group for Uzbekistan to date amounted to $2397.5 million to support comprehensive and sustainable economic development in the country.
