Saudi Arabia.. The launch of the twenty-fifth session of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy

Jeddah (UNA) - Today, Monday (February 20, 2023), the activities of the twenty-fifth session of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy Conference began in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The session began with the holding of the organizational meeting of the Council of the Academy, chaired by His Excellency the President of the Academy, Sheikh Saleh bin Abdullah bin Humaid, and in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Academy, Dr. Qutub Mustafa Sano.
During the meeting, the work of the current session was organized, the members of the bureau were elected, the rapporteur of the session's work and the general drafting committee for decisions were appointed, in addition to approving the minutes of the organizational meeting of the twenty-fourth session that was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in 2019.
During the meeting, the recommendations of the seminars held by the Academy during the last period were presented, as the Council of the Academy was briefed on the scientific outputs and deliberations included in these seminars.
The Secretary-General of the Academy, Dr. Qutb Mustafa Sano, confirmed that this session is distinguished because it discusses topics that are considered topical topics, and that it is the largest representative in terms of male and female participants, with the presence of more than 200 male and female scholars from all over the Islamic world and Islamic societies.
The Secretary-General of the Academy appreciated the facilities provided by the host country of the session, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at all levels to make the work of the session a success and achieve its goals.
The first day of the four-day session witnessed the holding of three scientific sessions. The first dealt with the statement of the compulsory ruling on education, in both its religious and secular parts, for both sexes in Islam. While the second scientific session was devoted to thematic research “The impact of the Corona pandemic on the provisions of worship, the family, and felonies,” and “The effects of the Corona pandemic on the provisions of transactions, contracts, and financial obligations.”
The third scientific session dealt with the ruling on praying in a language other than Arabic, with or without excuse, and the ruling on praying behind the phone, radio, and television.
It is expected that the Council will issue Sharia decisions dealing with these emerging issues within the framework of the original collective judgment of the scholars of the Islamic world in the current era.
It is noteworthy that the current session discusses 160 papers with the participation of 200 scientists and experts from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation countries, with the aim of studying contemporary calamities and developments and jurisprudence in them with the aim of clarifying the appropriate legal rulings for them.
It should be noted that the International Islamic Fiqh Academy is a global scientific body emanating from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. It was established in Makkah Al-Mukarramah in implementation of the decision of the Organization’s Third Islamic Summit Conference in January 1981. Its main headquarters is in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
