Banjul (UNA) – The Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) commended the outcomes of the 4th Islamic Summit Conference held in Banjul, Gambia, on 5-2024 May XNUMX, and the resolutions and statements it produced, particularly the contents of the “Banjul Declaration” and the final communiqué.
The Acting Director General of the Union, Mohammed bin Abd Rabbuh Al-Yami, confirmed that the summit reflected the keenness of the leaders of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to strengthen joint Islamic action in confronting the various challenges facing the Islamic world, especially with regard to the issue of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
Al-Yami praised the great efforts made by the Republic of The Gambia to host and make the summit a success, with the support and backing of member states, led by the headquarters country, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman. .
Al-Yami expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the member states for their praise in the final statement of the Islamic Summit for the outcomes of the international forum organized by the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation countries entitled “The Media and its Role in Fueling Hatred and Violence: The Dangers of Misinformation and Bias” in Jeddah on November 26, 2023, in cooperation with the Association of The Islamic world, with the participation of all official news agencies in the OIC member states, and a number of international media outlets and intellectual and religious institutions.
It is noteworthy that the Union participated in the summit’s work as one of the specialized bodies affiliated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and responsible for coordinating the media action of member states towards common issues, especially within the framework of official national news agencies.
