Union activities and programmes

News Exchange Program
The Union works to provide all possible means to develop capabilities in serving news exchange among the 57 official news agencies of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, with the aim of enhancing joint efforts in the media field, serving common issues, and highlighting them.
This is done by providing digital platforms, in addition to creating accounts on the major social media networks, and feeding them with news from the agencies and coverage of important Islamic issues, with the Palestinian cause at the forefront. The news is then shared among the agencies, supported by various types of textual data, as well as all available media types (photos, videos, infographics, podcasts, magazines, and other electronic files). Additionally, all digital solutions are harnessed to facilitate news exchange and the dissemination of news in all languages across all continents.

Media Delegations Program
The Union organizes a program to facilitate media delegations to the member states in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The aim is to introduce the capabilities of the Islamic countries in developmental, cultural, media, economic, tourism, and other vital fields, and to enhance professional communication and exchange of experiences among the member states.

Training program
Based on Draft Resolution No. 6/3 – GA, issued by the General Assembly of the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA), the Union has commenced the establishment of a network of media training institutes in the Organization’s member states in cooperation with the member agencies, the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Organization’s affiliated media institutions. This network aims to provide advanced training opportunities for media professionals and support Islamic media to become more influential and professional at the international level.

Media Membership Program
In line with Draft Resolution No. 6/4 – GA, issued by the General Assembly of the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA), the Union has adopted the Media Membership Program as a central tool for coordinating media professionals in the member states, facilitating communication within the framework of media campaigns aimed at highlighting the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its various bodies. The program also aims to enhance joint media efforts to face major challenges, such as combating hate speech and extremism, exposing misleading propaganda from terrorist groups, fighting Islamophobia, and promoting values of coexistence and tolerance among religions and cultures.

Strategic Partnerships
The Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) places great importance on enhancing strategic partnerships with various regional and international organizations and bodies to achieve its objectives. Through these partnerships, the Union aims to exchange expertise and information, as well as to advance joint media efforts in the member states.

Development and Digital Transformation
As part of its efforts to keep pace with rapid technological developments, the Union has made a qualitative leap in its media performance by adopting the comprehensive digital transformation project to develop its technical infrastructure. This has contributed to improving the quality and speed of news dissemination among member states, in addition to connecting the Union with all member agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation through a specialized digital platform and facilitating technical services for them. The Union also provides several other services, such as live broadcasting of events and conferences in real-time, and the use of artificial intelligence to serve the Union’s objectives.

Member States’ National Days
Emphasizing the active role of the Union of OIC News Agencies and its commitment to enhancing Islamic cooperation among member states, the Union organizes a media program to introduce the countries and their achievements, with a focus on landmark projects during their national days. All available means are utilized for this purpose, primarily including extensive press reports that are published and distributed to all agencies in several global languages to ensure wide audience reach.
