Al-Othaimeen receives the credentials of the representative of the Maldives to the Islamic Cooperation

Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Dr. Yusuf bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, received today, Monday (May 28, 2018) in his office in Jeddah, the credentials of the Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to Riyadh, Abdullah Hameed, as the permanent representative of the Maldives to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The Secretary General congratulated Ambassador Hamid on his new assignment and expressed the OIC's desire to work closely with the Maldives in promoting trade, tourism, culture, sports and youth affairs, among other sectors, for the benefit of all Member States. The Secretary General reaffirmed the support of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to the Government of the Maldives in its efforts to provide peace, stability and security for all citizens of the country. Ambassador Hamid, for his part, expressed his country's appreciation for the role played by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in strengthening relations among member states within the spirit of Islamic solidarity. The Ambassador reaffirmed the Maldives' commitment to further strengthening its cooperation with the Organization and to explore possibilities for advancing it through the political, economic and cultural fields.
