The Secretary General of the “Islamic Cooperation” discusses by telephone with the Egyptian Foreign Minister developments in the situation in Sudan

Jeddah (UNNA) - Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, made a phone call today, Sunday, with Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, to discuss developments in the situation in Sudan.

The two sides stressed the importance of an immediate ceasefire and a return to the path of dialogue and negotiation. They also called on the parties to the conflict to give priority to the interests of the Sudanese people and to abide by the humanitarian truce to ensure the delivery of aid and the evacuation of the wounded and stranded, especially in light of the critical humanitarian conditions the country is suffering from.

The Secretary-General praised the efforts of the OIC member states within the framework of good offices, including the important role played by the Arab Republic of Egypt to find a solution to the Sudanese crisis.
