The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is dissatisfied with the denial of Afghan female students from taking university entrance exams

Jeddah (UNA) - The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed disappointment with the decision announced by the de facto authorities in Afghanistan on January 28, 2023, which prevents female students from taking university entrance exams during this year, and concerns all public and private universities across the country.
She said that this latest decree further tightens the unfair restrictions announced by the de facto authorities in Kabul that prohibit girls from benefiting from educational opportunities and public jobs. This ban came shortly after the emergency meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on January 11, 2023 on “recent developments and the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.”
The closing statement of the aforementioned meeting had strongly called on the Afghan de facto authorities to “work to reopen schools and universities for girls and enable them to enroll in all stages of education and all specializations that the Afghan people need.”
The OIC General Secretariat strongly affirmed the invitation issued by the OIC Executive Committee. She urged the de-facto authorities to reconsider the recent decision and previous similar decisions in order to avoid the exclusion of girls and women from education and the far-reaching social and economic repercussions that this entails.
