Emir of Kuwait: We will continue to work to provide international protection for the Palestinian people

Istanbul (UNA) - The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, affirmed that his country will continue its endeavors to come up with a resolution that stipulates in its entirety the provision of international protection for the brotherly Palestinian people from the repressive practices they are subjected to in their peaceful expression of their demands. Sheikh Sabah indicated, in his speech before the extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul today, Friday, that the State of Kuwait sought, through its non-permanent membership in the Security Council, to issue a statement condemning the Israeli violations and holding the perpetrators accountable, but the Council unfortunately failed to issue it. The Emir of Kuwait added: Consultations are currently underway on a draft resolution submitted by the State of Kuwait regarding the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, which provides for international protection for the Palestinian people. Sheikh Sabah made it clear that while the members of the Security Council mourn the souls of the martyrs, expressing their sense of the magnitude of the tragedy and the depth of suffering, the Council at the same time stands unable to provide assistance to defenseless civilians in a statement of condemnation or decision to condemn what embodies disappointment and frustration in achieving what we aspire to. An active and influential role of the Security Council. Sheikh Sabah indicated that Kuwait will also continue its endeavors to support the Palestinian brothers in determining their legitimate right to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with what was stipulated in international legitimacy resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative and the principle of the two-state solution.
