A delegation from the Digital Media Observatory (UNA) visits the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission

Jeddah (UNA) – A delegation from the Digital Media Observatory of the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA) visited the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission on Monday.

The Executive Director of the Authority, Dr. Hadi bin Ali Al-Yami, briefed the Media Observatory delegation on the Authority, its tasks and roles, as an independent advisory body concerned with human rights issues in the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, stressing that it is entering a new strategic transformation phase, and emphasizing the importance of media partnerships in highlighting its new vision.

He pointed out that the next session of the Authority will witness the approval of the strategic plan, which represents the starting point for activating new initiatives and projects during the next stage.

Al-Yami revealed that the Authority’s new website has reached its final stages, and work is underway to complete its content in preparation for its launch in the next few days, as it is the main pillar of digital transformation and one of the projects that support institutional work and enhance communication with partners and the public.

The establishment of the commission, its journey, and the stages it has gone through in the field of protecting and promoting human rights were also reviewed, stressing that media work represents an integral part of the human rights work system, due to its impact on conveying the message and consolidating societal awareness of human rights issues.

It is worth noting that this visit comes within the framework of strengthening communication and cooperation between the Union and the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission, which is concerned with providing visions that combine the lofty Islamic principles and internationally recognized human rights values, in a way that contributes to harmonizing the local laws of member states with international declarations and conventions.
