Jeddah (UNA) – The Director General of the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA), His Excellency Professor Mohammed bin Abdulrab Al-Yami, received today, Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Union’s headquarters in Jeddah, His Excellency the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Jeddah, Mr. Yang Yi.
At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Yami congratulated the Consul General on his appointment as Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Jeddah, wishing him success in his duties and contributing to strengthening the relations of cooperation and friendship between the People’s Republic of China and the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, especially in the media and cultural fields.
The Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA-OIC) affirmed its pride in its strategic partnership with Xinhua News Agency, noting that this partnership has witnessed a qualitative leap with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two sides. This memorandum has contributed to expanding areas of media cooperation and the exchange of news and expertise, serving common goals and strengthening communication between media institutions in OIC member states and the People's Republic of China.
During the meeting, ways to enhance media cooperation between the Union and Chinese media institutions were discussed, in order to support mutual understanding, highlight the true image of Islamic societies, introduce Chinese culture, and expand the horizons of media partnership in areas of common interest.
The Consul General of the People’s Republic of China expressed his deep gratitude for the warm welcome, praising the role played by the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in promoting media cooperation among member states and strengthening bridges of communication and understanding between peoples and cultures.
The Chinese Consul said: “I am pleased to visit the headquarters of the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and I appreciate the professional efforts made by the Union in promoting media dialogue and cultural communication. We look forward to expanding areas of cooperation with the Union and media institutions in member states, in a way that serves common interests and contributes to strengthening understanding and friendship between the People’s Republic of China and the countries of the Islamic world.”
