The Organization of Islamic Cooperation strongly condemns the terrorist attacks in Mali and Burkina Faso

Jeddah (UNA) - The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attacks that took place, respectively, on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 April 2019 in the Mopti region of Mali and in the Kolbelogou province of Burkina Faso, which resulted in twenty deaths and injuries to others. The Secretary-General of the organization, Dr. Youssef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to the governments of Mali and Burkina Faso. He explained that the perpetrators of terrorist acts are always considered the enemies of peace. Emphasizing the solidarity of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation with Mali and Burkina Faso, while encouraging countries to coordinate their efforts to arrest those responsible for acts of violence, bring them to justice and impose legal punishment on them. Al-Othaimeen also reaffirmed the principled position of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation rejecting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and the organization's support for initiatives and efforts aimed at maintaining security, peace and stability in the countries of the Sahel region.
