
Kuwait (UNA/KUNA) – The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s welcome of the agreement on the memorandum of understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which stipulates an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations, guarantees freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and addresses a number of issues. The Ministry praised the role played by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the State of Qatar, along with other brotherly and friendly countries, which contributed to bringing viewpoints closer and creating the conditions for reaching this important understanding.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Monday that while the State of Kuwait renews its support for all efforts aimed at settling disputes and conflicts by peaceful means and in accordance with the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, it expresses the State of Kuwait’s hope that this understanding will constitute an important step towards broader approaches to addressing outstanding issues through sustainable solutions that would consolidate the principles of good neighborliness, foremost among them mutual respect, building trust, non-interference in the internal affairs of states, not using force or the threat of force, and ceasing support for proxies, which would contribute to establishing the foundations of security and stability at the regional and international levels and ensure the continued freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The ministry called on all parties to engage in the upcoming negotiations in a positive and constructive spirit that supports efforts to enhance cooperation, consolidate stability and achieve prosperity for the peoples of the region and the world.
