Jeddah (UNA) – On Wednesday evening, July 1, 2026, His Excellency the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Jeddah, Yang Yi, held a ceremony to honor media professionals in recognition of their efforts in supporting and strengthening media relations between the People’s Republic of China and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and their contributions to highlighting the progress of joint cooperation between China and the countries of the region.
The ceremony was attended by the Director General of the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA), Mr. Mohammed bin Abdul Rabbo Al-Yami, and the Director of the Ministry of Information branch in the Makkah region, Mr. Abdul Khaliq Al-Zahrani, along with a number of media leaders, editors-in-chief and journalists.
In his speech, the Consul General stressed that the media represents an essential bridge for enhancing understanding between peoples, appreciating the role played by journalists in conveying the true picture of Chinese-Arab relations and their rapid development in various fields. He pointed out that this honor comes in recognition of the professional efforts made by journalists in covering Chinese events and activities, and their contribution to promoting civilizational and cultural dialogue, reflecting the depth of the strategic partnership between China and the Arab countries.
The ceremony included honoring a number of media professionals and media institutions in recognition of their contributions to promoting media cooperation, amid a friendly atmosphere that emphasized the importance of continuing joint work and exchanging experiences in a way that serves common interests and enhances communication between the two sides.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the honorees expressed their gratitude to the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Jeddah for this initiative, stressing that the honor represents an incentive to continue professional media work, which contributes to consolidating Saudi-Chinese relations and strengthening the bridges of communication between the two friendly peoples.
