A series of cultural lectures enriches the second leg of ISESCO International Open Days in Fez

Rabat (UNA) - The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), in the city of Fez, Kingdom of Morocco, held the second stop of ISESCO International Open Days, in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and the ISESCO International Chairs Network for Thought, Literature and Arts, where a series of lectures were delivered in celebration of the International Day. For Islamic art, which was approved by UNESCO at the suggestion of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and falls on the 18th of November every year. The series of lectures, which were held at the headquarters of the Euro-Mediterranean University, yesterday, Wednesday (November 24, 2021), was initiated by Dr. Abdelilah Benarfa, Deputy Director General of ISESCO, where he touched on the issue of confusion and anxiety about the future, especially in the context of the Covid 19 pandemic, indicating that the interruption of activities Cultural activities contributed to exacerbating its negative effects, and highlighted that culture has a major role in restoring confidence and contributing to facing future challenges. After that, Dr. Muhammad Zine El Abidine, Director of the Culture and Communication Sector at ISESCO, delivered a lecture in which he highlighted the role of youth in expressing the value of culture in the Islamic world, with the aim of communicating its specificity to the world, and developing minds, science and creativity, so that we are not only consumers, but contributors to the development of thought. Employing modern technology to make culture a true contributor to human development. The lecture of Dr. Omar Helli, Advisor to the Director General of ISESCO of the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World, touched on the importance of enhancing the presence of culture in universities, stressing that educating university students is a way to reform and develop university training. In his speech, Dr. Abd al-Rahman Tankul, supervisor of the ISESCO Chair for Arts, Sciences and Civilizations at the Euro-Mediterranean University, highlighted the importance of cooperation between ISESCO and the University, through the chair he supervises, and its role in contributing to understanding social transformations through arts, culture and science. While Dr. Mustafa Bousmina, President of the Euro-Mediterranean University, stressed the need for university training to open up to culture and the arts, with the aim of forming generations of intellectuals, highlighting the importance of cultural pluralism in building a prosperous future. At the end of the series of lectures, the door was opened for university students and professors to discuss the ideas presented, and the lecturers provided ample answers to the questions of the attendees. It is noteworthy that ISESCO’s International Open Days are one of the programs of ISESCO’s Ways to the Future, which will be held throughout the year, in universities, research centers and cultural institutions in a number of countries.
