International expert: The future of renewable energy in Turkey is very bright

Ankara (INA) – Adnan Amin, Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency, described the Turkish government's steps in the renewable energy sector as inspiring, and that the future of this sector in the country looks very bright. According to the Anatolia News Agency, Amin indicated that renewable energy investments in the world will not be negatively affected by oil prices, which are witnessing a rise during the last stage compared to the previous one. He explained that oil is no longer widely used in the production of electric power compared to before, stressing that this sector now prefers renewable and nuclear energy in addition to natural gas and coal. Amin expected that the importance of oil will decline further for the electric power sector during the next stage, in conjunction with the increase in developments in electrical storage and electrical tools. He said that Turkey was able to establish a solid legal and political framework in the renewable energy sector, and today it is one of the world's leading countries with regard to investments that do not receive financial support. He added: Turkey is a rich country in terms of renewable energy resources, and the Turkish government has taken very inspiring steps to develop the sector, which I see as a very bright future in Turkey. And at the end of last year, a report by the International Finance Corporation, affiliated to the World Bank Group, stated that Turkey would be able to attract about $28 billion in investment in renewable energy by 2020.
