King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language launches the fifth edition of the “Children’s Recitation Challenge”

Riyadh (UNA) – The King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language has launched the fifth edition of the Children’s Recitation Challenge, an international competition targeting Arabic-speaking children from all over the world, aged (5) to (12) years, which is concerned with developing their recitation and expression skills by presenting eloquent poetic texts in short video clips. It accepts entries starting from 23 Dhu al-Qi’dah 1447 AH, corresponding to 10 May 2026 AD, until 15 Muharram 1448 AH, corresponding to 30 June 2026 AD.

The Secretary-General of the Academy, Professor Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, explained that the (Children’s Recitation Challenge) competition represents one of the qualitative paths that the Academy is working on in supporting the development of language skills among young people, and strengthening their connection to the Arabic language, stressing that the continuation of the competition and the expansion of its international scope highlights the institutional interest in developing initiatives that serve the Arabic language in its educational and cultural contexts.

He appreciated the support of the Ministry of Education and its contribution to spreading this version of the competition and disseminating it to education offices in the regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and its role in promoting the Arabic language among children, by motivating its students to participate in the competition and giving them the opportunity to showcase their linguistic and performance talents.

The competition aims to highlight the beauty of the Arabic language through children's performances, enhance its presence on interactive platforms, enable the public to become familiar with emerging linguistic creations, support and encourage promising talents, and provide an opportunity for different groups to demonstrate their linguistic and rhetorical abilities.

The Academy explained the mechanism for participation in this edition by filming a video clip that does not exceed (5) minutes in length, and uploading it to the (X) platform, with the inclusion of the Academy’s and the competition’s hashtags: (#King_Salman_Global_Academy_for_the_Arabic_Language and #Children’s_Recitation_Challenge5) in the text of the post, provided that the participating child adheres to reciting a poem of his choice in the (Classical Arabic Poetry) track only, and mentioning his personal information at the beginning of the video clip (full name, age, nationality, and country of residence), and that the passport validity of winners from outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and their companions is not less than (6) months.

This edition comes as an extension of the successes achieved by previous editions; as the previous edition witnessed the participation of more than (8000) participants from (30) countries around the world; which highlights the breadth of its scope, and the diversity of its presence at the local and international levels.

This competition is part of the Academy’s efforts to achieve the objectives of the Human Capacity Development Program by developing linguistic competencies, enhancing the global presence of the Arabic language, and supporting initiatives that contribute to building a generation that is proud of its language and capable of using it in various fields of expression and communication.
