Cairo (UNA) – The Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Afro-Asian Journalists Union on Tuesday, July 29, 2026, on the sidelines of the conference held in Cairo under the slogan “Media Unites Peoples,” with the participation of a select group of journalists, academics, diplomats and public figures from various African and Asian countries.
The memorandum was signed on behalf of the UNA Union by its Director General, Professor Mohammed bin Abdulrab Al-Yami, while it was signed on behalf of the Afro-Asian Media Union by its President, Professor Nizar Al-Khaled.
The memorandum of understanding aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two sides, embodying their leading role at the regional and international levels in supporting Islamic and media issues, and promoting shared visions regarding rejecting violent extremism and combating terrorism by spreading the values of tolerance and moderation.
It is worth noting that the conference was held in conjunction with the celebration of the sixty-seventh anniversary of the founding of the Afro-Asian Peoples' Solidarity Organization, with the aim of discussing ways to develop joint media cooperation and keep pace with the rapid changes taking place in the media sector.
