Jeddah (UNA) – The Director General of the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA), Mr. Mohammed bin Abdulrab Al-Yami, received today, Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the Union’s headquarters in Jeddah, the President of the National Authority for Refugees and Displaced Persons in the Republic of Somalia, Mr. Liban Abdi Akal.
During the meeting, prospects for strategic cooperation in the humanitarian and media fields were discussed to support refugees, displaced persons and returnees in Somalia, and ways to enhance mechanisms for activating joint coordination in a way that supports media work paths.
During the meeting, the Director General of UNA affirmed the readiness of the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to support joint media work with the National Authority for Refugees and Displaced Persons, and to coordinate with relevant authorities to implement humanitarian programs that contribute to supporting the efforts of the Federal Republic of Somalia to achieve sustainable solutions for refugees, displaced persons, and returnees.
The meeting was attended by the head of the Somali Welfare Party, Mr. Mahmoud Mohamed Mahmoud.
