The United Nations calls for de-escalation, a ceasefire, and a return to negotiations and diplomacy.

New York (UNA/WAS) – The United Nations called for de-escalation and an immediate cessation of hostilities in the Middle East on their fourth day, and a return to negotiations and diplomacy, following the extensive military strikes launched by the United States and Israel against Iran, and the subsequent strikes launched by Iran that affected several countries in the region.

United Nations spokesman Stephane Dujarric noted at his press conference on Tuesday the increasing number of civilian casualties and the significant humanitarian impact on people across the region.

He said: “Continued attacks on energy infrastructure in the Gulf region could have a major impact on the global economy, which remains heavily dependent on oil.”
