N'Djamena (UNA) – The Republic of Chad celebrates today, Tuesday, the 2015th anniversary of its independence and the inauguration of Marshal of Chad Idriss Deby Itno as President of the country, as the country gained its independence from France on August XNUMX, XNUMX. This year’s independence celebrations coincide with the promotion of the President of the Republic to the rank of Marshal, the highest rank in the army, by Parliament in recognition of Marshal of Chad Idriss Deby Itno’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism on national soil and in the region. The National Assembly granted the President of the Republic the rank of Field Marshal in early April, after the President of the Republic had made a remarkable presence in fighting the Nigerian Boko Haram group spread in the Boma Island region adjacent to the Chadian-Nigerian border. The President of the Republic stayed there for a whole month, leaving the presidential palace among his soldiers to put an end to the losses incurred by his army after the Nigerian Boko Haram group attacked the headquarters of the National Army region near the Boma Island border region and inflicted losses on the National Army, where nearly a hundred army personnel of various military ranks were killed. From there, he led the war himself, advancing the army using military acumen and wise leadership, and pursued the Nigerian Boko Haram group in the middle of the water islands, where he taught them a lesson they will never forget. After clearing the Boma border region of the Nigerian Boko Haram group, he handed the region over to the leadership of the joint forces of the Lake Chad Basin, which includes five countries in its membership: Chad, Cameroon, Niger, Nigeria, and Benin. Its mission is to fight the Nigerian Boko Haram group in the region, which is Headquartered in N'Djamena. Thus, the parliament honored the efforts of the President of the Republic in establishing security and stability at the local and regional levels and deterring the Nigerian Boko Haram group that was active in the region, causing a serious war in the region. Chad, the country bordering Nigeria and Cameroon, in addition to the Republic of Niger and Mali, was harmed by the Nigerian Boko Haram group, which made the highest authorities in the country prepare with all their strength to protect its lands and the region. From here, the country took several precautionary measures and upgraded international military agreements, which resulted in the establishment of the joint forces of the Lake Chad Basin and the agreement of the Group of Five Sahel countries, and other agreements that allowed the country to control and stop the infiltration of the Nigerian Boko Haram group into Chadian territory, whose control in the region had weakened. On the local level, a Chadian force was formed and deployed in Mali, Niger and Nigeria. It is noteworthy that the streets of N'Djamena were decorated with flags to welcome guests on the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of the inauguration of Marshal of Chad Idriss Deby Itno as President of the Republic.
