Jeddah (UNA) - The Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Permanent Representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Ulugbek Maksudov, met today, Thursday, in Jeddah with the Acting Director General of the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA) Muhammad bin Abd Rabbo Al-Yami. The Uzbek ambassador listened to an explanation of UNA's vision in the coming years, which centers around the union's role as a major media platform for member states, and the advancement of the media industry, based on Islamic and media values that urge transparency, credibility and tolerance. UNA's role in providing media strategic advice to member states was also reviewed through representatives of official national news agencies, in addition to presenting a number of courses to be held during the coming period. For his part, the Uzbek ambassador praised UNA's activities, stressing his country's support for the union and its keenness to enable it to play its role in promoting joint Islamic action in the field of media.
