The Union of Islamic Cooperation News Agencies expresses its regret at the failure of the Security Council to accept the membership of the State of Palestine in the United Nations.

Jeddah (UNA) - The Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA) expressed its regret at the failure of the UN Security Council to carry out its responsibilities towards granting the State of Palestine full membership in the United Nations, at a time when the Palestinian people are exposed to the harshest levels of aggression, persecution and genocide.

The Union pointed out that obstructing the full membership of the State of Palestine in the United Nations through the American veto violates the provisions of the Charter of the international organization, which allows membership in it for all countries that accept the obligations contained therein, and still prevents the Palestinian people from being able to obtain their legitimate rights, which contributes to prolonging The historical injustice that has been inflicted on the Palestinian people for 75 years.

The Union stressed the need to support the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and establish their Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international resolutions.
