In cooperation with the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Museum of Islamic Art hosts an art exhibition for children with cancer in Egypt

Doha (UNA/QNA) - The Museum of Islamic Art, in cooperation with the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is organizing an inspiring art exhibition entitled (Together We Are) during the period from November 1 to 7.

The exhibition includes more than 26 artworks created by young patients at the Children’s Cancer Hospital in the Arab Republic of Egypt. It comes as an initiative to celebrate the therapeutic power of art in the field of healthcare, and also highlights the deep cultural ties between the State of Qatar and Egypt.

With the support of the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, young artists will have the opportunity to come to Qatar to showcase their creativity to an international audience.

The exhibition includes an inspiring collection of paintings and drawings that reflect the creativity and strength of children receiving cancer treatment. The artworks tell special stories full of hope, courage and fertile imagination, emphasizing the significant role of art in supporting the healing journey.

This initiative confirms the Museum of Islamic Art’s commitment to encouraging cultural dialogue and highlighting the importance of art in promoting mental health, as well as highlighting the importance of using art as a means of building bridges of understanding and mutual cooperation.

“Art provides comfort, reassurance and nurtures a sense of connection, and this is a quality that really makes a real difference in people’s lives,” said Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, Minister of State for International Cooperation, in a statement on this occasion. “My visit to the 57357 Cancer Hospital in Egypt last year was very inspiring to me after I saw how they combined care and creativity. We in the State of Qatar see this event as an additional step towards strengthening our fraternal relationship in all its human and artistic dimensions, not just political and economic, with our brothers in Egypt.”

“We are proud to present the ‘Together We Are’ exhibition, which not only showcases the exceptional talents of young artists, but also highlights the power of creative expression as a means of healing,” said Salem Al Aswad, Deputy Director of Education and Community Outreach at the Museum of Islamic Art. “With the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we have been able to create an international platform that gives these children the opportunity to express their voices and stories.”

He expressed his hope that this exhibition will inspire its visitors to think about the importance of art in healthcare, as well as the value of cultural exchange.

In addition to the exhibition, workshops and interactive activities will be held for visiting children, focusing on art therapy and creative expression. These sessions provide a supportive environment in which children can explore their artistic skills, helping them express their experiences and feelings in creative ways.

The Together We Are exhibition is expected to attract a diverse audience of art lovers, healthcare workers and various segments of society, as it provides an opportunity to interact with the stories told by the artworks and celebrate the resilience of the human spirit. The exhibition also represents a reminder of the ability of art to transcend borders, and its role in supporting healing and uniting people in difficult times.
