Manama (INA) - The work of the regional workshop on enhancing the image of women in the Arab media started in the Bahraini capital, Manama, on Wednesday (October 4, 2017), organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ISESCO, in cooperation with the Bahraini Supreme Council for Women and the Ministry of Affairs. For her part, Maha Aqil, Director of the Media Department at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, said: The organization is working to correct the challenges women face resulting from the perpetuation of negative stereotypes about them in the minds of society, and the role of negative media in that. And she added: Therefore, the organization initiated the establishment of the Islamic Observatory for Women in the Arab Countries project, in order to fill the need in this field, and we also aim to include more member states in the global monitoring project undertaken by the United Nations. Dr. Lubna Sulaibikh, Secretary-General of the Bahrain National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, delivered the speech of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), in which she indicated that this workshop falls within the framework of the organizing bodies’ awareness of the importance of conveying information and the correct image about the reality of Arab women and their pioneering role in all fields, and their aspirations The great goal of Arab women is the permanent transition of women towards a brighter future.
