Arab AECOM calls for the protection of antiquities in the Arab world

Doha (INA) – The Executive Council of the Arab Organization of Museums (Aicom) called on Arabs to protect Arab antiquities and confront the dangers to which museums in the Arab world are exposed, in light of the exceptional circumstances the Arab region is going through, according to the Qatar News Agency. In a statement issued after its meeting yesterday, Monday, at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, the Executive Council stressed the need to address the destruction and vandalism suffered by some Arab museums, stressing the provision of all forms of support to Arab museums in these exceptional events. Among the urgent practical measures taken by the Executive Council of Arab AECOM is the organization of a training course for young Arab museums on the topic of museum protection methods during periods of armed conflicts and wars. Arab countries will be invited to nominate participants in this course, which will be held next July in the Lebanese capital, Beirut. During its meeting, the Council approved the activation of the agreements concluded between the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALECSO), especially with regard to the role of the Arab Organization of Museums as the official representative of the International Council in the field of museums in the Arab world in implementing the projects included in the program of ad hoc activities. for the Arab region.
