The launch of the Forum of Presidents of the Universities of the Islamic World in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD (INA) - The activities of the Third Forum of Rectors of Universities of the Islamic World kicked off on Monday in Islamabad, Pakistan, to be held by the Komsats Institute for Information Technology and the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization - ISESCO - on February 23 and 24 under the slogan: Confronting Global Challenges, in cooperation with The Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Federal Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, and the Supreme Education Commission of Pakistan. In the opening session of the Forum, Dr. Amina Al-Hajri, Assistant Director General of ISESCO, delivered a speech on behalf of Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Tuwaijri, Director General of ISESCO and Secretary-General of the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World, in which she stressed the need to redouble attention to strengthening ties between the university and society, and supporting the role of higher education in the economic renaissance. And encourage entrepreneurship in the field of education and partnership with the industrial sector. She highlighted the importance of activating the principle of equal opportunities for both sexes in terms of participation in economic and social development, and called on the university to get rid of the restrictions of traditional management systems and to adopt modern governance methods that ensure the development of the quality of education with the participation of all. She also referred to the special care that ISESCO attaches to the development of higher education governance and its performance in the member states. More than three hundred university presidents and directors of higher education institutions in the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and a number of experts specialized in the fields of higher education, participated in the forum, who discussed a number of topics and issues related to sustainable systems of higher education, higher education, innovation and entrepreneurship, The role of higher education in economic recovery, international cooperation in the field of scientific research, equality in access to higher education, the role of women in this field and in society, and the partnership between the university and the industrial sector.
