| Azerbaijan is located in the South Caucasus region of Eurasia and extends over Western Asia and Eastern Europe. Three major features dominate the geography of Azerbaijan: the Caspian Sea forming the natural coastal border to the east, the Greater Caucasus Mountains to the north, and the vast plains in the center of the country. The total length of Azerbaijan's land borders is about 2,648 km (1645 mi), of which 1,007 are with Armenia, 756 are with Iran, 480 are with Georgia, 390 are with Russia, and 15 are with Turkey.
