Baghdad - (UNA) - Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met on Wednesday in Baghdad with the Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Head of the International Investigative Team to Account for the Crimes of the Terrorist Organization ISIS Christian Richard. During the meeting, the tasks assigned to the international team to support local efforts aimed at holding the terrorist organization ISIS accountable were reviewed. According to the statement, the Iraqi minister stressed supporting the mission of the international team in order to achieve the goal of its formation under UN Security Council Resolution (2379) of 2017, and to fulfill its mandate assigned to it based on the team's competencies, in light of full respect for Iraq's sovereignty and its judicial jurisdiction over crimes committed on its territory. For his part, Richard stressed the international team's continued intensification of communication and coordination with the competent Iraqi authorities to implement its programs, represented in supporting local authorities to hold the terrorist organization ISIS accountable, building capacities and using advanced technology in preserving evidence and archiving, while appreciating the efforts made by the Iraqi side in facilitating the tasks of the international team.
