​The Islamic Council of Southern Sudan supports the integration of Muslims into the community of Latjoor State

Juba (UNA) - The Secretary-General of the Islamic Council of Southern Sudan, Sheikh Abdullah Burj, praised the integration of Muslims into the society and government of Latjoor State. This came during a meeting held by the Council's general secretariat with the new governor of Latjoor state, General Qarhoth Garkoth Houth Niang, in the presence of the governor of Nasir Kong Chut Liege district and Gay Jakok Chan, commissioner of religious affairs, and the secretary of the Islamic Council in charge of Latjoor state. The meeting witnessed discussions of joint cooperation to attract charitable support to receive refugees returning from Ethiopia after peace was achieved, and to provide spaces for Islamic complexes and projects to contribute to the development of the state, and joint work to respond to the humanitarian and health needs in the state, and to restore the mosque, hospital and secondary school in the state. The governor of Latjoor confirmed that the state welcomes all religious leaders to promote religious tolerance in the state. Stressing the importance of harnessing the relations of the Islamic Council to support development in the state and promote religious coexistence and national reconciliation. The council delegation included: Sheikh Abdullah Burj, Acting Secretary-General, Benasiu Amum Deng, First Deputy Secretary-General, Alish Chang Garkoth, Minister of Information in Fangak Province and Secretary of Projects, Naima Abbas Eido, Secretary of Humanitarian Affairs, Khaled Juma Abdullah, Secretary of Youth, and Ibrahim Awal, Secretary of Information.
