Malaysian Foreign Ministry: The issue of Rohingya refugees needs constant attention and assistance from the international community

Kuala Lumpur (UNA) - During the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Malaysia affirmed that the Rohingya refugee issue needs constant attention and assistance from the international community. The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement today, Thursday, that the issue was highlighted by Deputy Foreign Minister Qamaruddin Jaafar, who headed the Malaysian delegation to the Foreign Ministers Council session from March 22 to 23 in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad. The ministry added that Kamaruddin mentioned the issue in question in an official statement during the meeting of the Ad Hoc Ministerial Committee on Accountability for Human Rights Violations against the Rohingya. Hundreds of thousands of Rohingya have fled Myanmar's Rakhine State following the violence, and there are about 200 Rohingya refugees in Malaysia. The statement stated that in addition to addressing the importance of the topic of the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers, Qamar Al-Din highlighted the issues of the struggle of the Palestinian people, human solidarity with the Afghan people, and the reforms of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
