A deadly trio maims children in the northern Gaza Strip

Gaza (UNA/WAFA) - Fear and anxiety dominate Palestinian mothers, as they follow the fate of their children, who suffer from severe emaciated diseases, malnutrition, and lack of treatment, due to the siege and ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip for the 173rd day.

Some of these children are lying in Kamal Adwan Hospital in the town of Beit Lahia, north of the Gaza Strip. Their health condition has deteriorated, and their weight has decreased dramatically, in light of the scarcity of food, water, and medicine supplies.

On one of the hospital beds, Jana Ayyad (8 years old) is lying in a very poor health condition, as a result of the widespread malnutrition in the northern Gaza Strip, as a result of the occupation preventing the entry of aid.

The mother accompanies her daughter, Jana, in the hospital, and feels unable to provide any assistance to her child, in light of the repercussions of this aggression.

The mother says: “My child is going through bad conditions as a result of the food shortage we witnessed, which led to malnutrition and a lack of vitamins, proteins, and calcium in her body.”

In a tone of voice laced with pain, she added: “My child’s body has become weak, and she has lost a lot of weight in recent days.”

Recalling her child’s condition before the war, the mother noted that Jana “was enjoying activity, playing and interacting with others without any health complaints, while today she is suffering in bed, unable to move and stuttering to speak.”

She hopes that her child will be able to leave Gaza to receive the necessary treatment, after the aggression caused widespread destruction in hospitals and a shortage of medical supplies.

The Israeli bombing put 32 hospitals and 53 health centers out of service, in addition to targeting 155 health centers.

Lung disease

Like Umm Jana, Umm Nour al-Huda Muhammad (11 years old) fears losing her child’s life, in light of the remaining hospitals suffering from a lack of treatment and food, especially in the north of the Gaza Strip.

The mother says: “My child suffers from a lung disease (that has not yet been identified), low blood levels in her body, and malnutrition, which negatively affects her life.”

She continues: “Every day my child’s condition gets worse in light of the lack of food and treatment in Gaza.”

The mother hopes to provide the necessary treatment and healthy food for her child, and to allow her to leave Gaza to receive the necessary treatment.

While the lives of Jana, Nour al-Huda and others were at stake, the occupation killed more than 13 children in its war on the Gaza Strip, among tens of thousands of civilian victims, in addition to a famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly, according to Palestinian and UN data.
