Israel closes the only commercial crossing in the Gaza Strip

Gaza (UNA) – The Israeli occupation authorities announced today, Monday, the closure of the only commercial crossing (Kerem Abu Salem) in the Gaza Strip, under the pretext of launching incendiary balloons towards Israeli settlements. Israeli Minister of Defense Benny Gantz said in a press statement: After security consultations and in light of the launching of balloons and the violation of the security calm, it was decided to close the (Kerem Abu Salem) crossing and only allow the entry of humanitarian aid and fuel as of Tuesday morning. Gantz considered the launching of balloons a violation of the calm and will harm the development of the economy and attempts to improve the civilian situation of its residents, threatening to respond to any violation against Israel. He held the Hamas movement responsible and bear consequences for everything that happens inside and outside Gaza. The border areas have witnessed security tensions in recent days following the targeting of military sites inside Gaza in addition to the continued launching of incendiary balloons towards Israeli areas.
