Gaza (UNA/QNA) - The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the death of 39 infants who were in intensive care at Al-Shifa Medical Complex in western Gaza City, due to a lack of oxygen.
Mai Al-Kaila, Palestinian Minister of Health, said in statements reported by the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) that about 39 children died in the hospital due to power outages, oxygen outages, and the lack of medicines needed to treat them.
Occupation vehicles have been besieging the complex since dawn today, as all the neighboring buildings were bombed, and thousands of wounded and displaced people are trapped inside, without electricity, food, water, or fuel, and dozens of martyrs’ bodies are piled up in its courtyards, and a fire broke out next to the kidney department, and in IDP camps, amid fears that it will spread to other places.
According to eyewitnesses, the occupation vehicles are only 500 meters away from the Al-Shifa Complex, targeting anyone who moves inside its courtyards.
In addition, the International Committee of the Red Cross confirmed that there is difficulty in evacuating Al-Shifa Medical Complex, because there are more than 60 patients in intensive care, more than fifty infants in the premature and incubation departments, and more than 500 patients in the dialysis departments.
The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip also announced the cessation of operations in the Al-Shifa Hospital Complex, the largest hospital in the Strip, after fuel ran out completely.
Al-Qudra confirmed that the Al-Shifa Medical Complex had been completely out of service, and said, “We are now inside the hospital besieged from all directions, and there are a large number of Israeli drones, and the intensive care and pediatric departments and oxygen equipment have stopped working.”
Al-Qudra pointed to the intense bombing by the Israeli occupation forces of the surgery building inside the Shifa Medical Complex, and the inability to move from one building to another within the complex due to the intensity of the bombing, stressing the absence of any communication between the departments and buildings, even internal communication is cut off, in addition to the interruption of potable water inside. The complex, which currently houses more than 15 people, are hours away from certain death.
