Organization of Islamic Cooperation

The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation congratulates the People's Republic of Bangladesh on the election of Khalil Rahman as President of the United Nations General Assembly.

Jeddah (UNA) – Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, Secretary-General  The Organization of Islamic Cooperation extends its congratulations to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, its Government, and to Mr. Khalil Rahman, the Bangladeshi Foreign Minister, on his election as President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Secretary-General wished Khalil Rahman success in his duties, expressing his confidence that his leadership of the General Assembly would contribute to strengthening multilateral action and addressing common global challenges, thanks to his diplomatic skills and capabilities, and thanks to the constructive role played by the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on the international stage, in the United Nations system, and in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The Secretary-General also affirmed the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s commitment to continuing cooperation and coordination with the Presidency of the United Nations General Assembly to contribute to promoting peace, security and development in the world.
