Doha (UNA) – Qatar will host the 20th General Conference of the Arab Union of Electricity from 22 to 2018 March, which is organized by the Union in cooperation with the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA), under the title “Towards a Common Vision for a Promising Future for Electricity in the Arab World”. In a speech on the occasion, Eng. Abdul Rahim Al-Hafizi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Union of Electricity, said that the 1987th General Conference of the Union is an opportunity to achieve cooperation, exchange experiences and gain knowledge among specialists and workers in electricity systems, both Arab and international, between Arab countries. It will also enable strengthening partnerships with international and global organizations with expertise and bringing visions and goals closer together, to ensure the continuity of development in the electricity sectors in the Arab world from the technical, economic, social, environmental, legislative and regulatory aspects, and to establish a culture of sustainable development in the electricity sector in the Arab world. He explained that the 19th conference will address many topics of interest to decision-makers and workers in the field of electric power alike by reviewing the policies and strategies of the electricity sector in the Arab world, and how the electric power sector is keeping pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, in addition to the role of new and renewable energies in developing the economy, preserving the environment, and the prospects of the Arab Common Electricity Market and electrical interconnection projects. Among the most important topics scheduled to be discussed by the XNUMXth General Conference of the Arab Union of Electricity are the policies and strategies of the electricity sector in the Arab world - reality and future prospects, and the prospects of keeping pace with the fourth industrial revolution in the Arab world, and the role of new and renewable energies in developing the economy and preserving the environment in Arab countries, and the prospects of the Arab Common Electricity Market and interconnection projects. The conference aims to enhance cooperation, exchange of expertise and gain knowledge among specialists and workers in electricity systems, both Arab and international, among Arab countries on the one hand, and to enhance partnerships with international and global organizations with expertise on the other hand, and the accompanying encouragement of scientific research and raising the challenges of operation, control, efficiency and economic cost in the fields of electric power.
