AlMalik, Director General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), stressed that the organization is working with great interest to promote calligraphy and manuscript cultures, based on its vision of sponsoring everything related to human creativity in the fields of science, literature and arts, and expanding the channels of pioneering work based on innovation, renewal and enlightenment, noting that ICESCO will soon inaugurate its specialized center for calligraphy and manuscript cultures.

In his speech, the Director General of ISESCO expressed his thanks and appreciation to the organizers for choosing ISESCO as the guest of honor of the conference, explaining that the manuscripts are a living witness to the cultural authenticity of the Islamic world, its linguistic identity and its civilizational image, and a bridge of knowledge communication with others in the paths of cosmic, natural and applied sciences. He referred to the University of Cambridge, one of the oldest universities in the world, which hosted this important conference, which addressed the manuscripts of the seventh century AH as the second golden age of the renaissance of Muslims and the prosperity of their civilization in all fields and areas of human knowledge.

Dr. Idham Hanash, an expert in the Culture and Communication Sector at ISESCO, participated in the conference. In his intervention entitled: “Illustrations of Medical Manuscripts in the Seventh Century AH between Scientific Investigation and Artistic Analysis”, he addressed the medical topics that were carried by the manuscripts’ illustrations, such as the figures of the wise, doctors, sciences and medical devices.
