
Muscat (UNA/ONA) – Mr. Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs, received today Jean Arnault, the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations on the Middle East Conflict and its repercussions, at the General Diwan of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the interview, the situation in the Middle East in general and the developments in the regional situation in particular were discussed in light of the repercussions of the Israeli-American war on Iran and the current truce, and the efforts made to find solutions that would put a final end to the conflict in the region from all political, security, economic and humanitarian aspects.
The Foreign Minister affirmed the Sultanate of Oman’s support for UN efforts aimed at promoting peaceful and diplomatic solutions, and creating the appropriate conditions for regional dialogue between the various parties, in order to reduce escalation, build trust, and restore security and stability to the region.
For his part, the UN envoy expressed his deep appreciation for the constructive role played by the Sultanate of Oman and its long historical experience in supporting peace initiatives, mediation efforts and promoting regional stability, praising its approach based on dialogue and bringing viewpoints closer together.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador-at-Large Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah Al Hinai, and a number of officials from both sides.
