
Damascus (UNA/SANA) – Syria condemned the targeting of a UAE-owned tanker by Iranian drones while it was crossing the Strait of Hormuz, considering this attack a flagrant violation of international freedom of navigation and the rules of international law, and a threat to the security and stability of the region and the safety of global trade routes.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates confirmed in a statement yesterday, Monday, that Syria stands fully with the sisterly United Arab Emirates in the face of this aggression, and expresses its solidarity with it.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the need for the international community to intervene to stop Iranian attacks that would increase tension in the region, and called for respect for the sovereignty of states and ensuring the security of international maritime routes, in order to preserve regional and international stability.
The United Arab Emirates announced that an oil tanker belonging to ADNOC was attacked by two Iranian drones while crossing the Strait of Hormuz, without any injuries.
