Minister Assaf: Wafa's winning of the UNA Award for Media Professionalism is a crowning achievement for its standing and a message of support for Palestinian media.

Ramallah (UNA/WAFA) – The General Supervisor of Palestinian Official Media, Minister Ahmed Assaf, affirmed that the Palestinian News and Information Agency “WAFA” winning the first edition of the “UNA” Award for Media Professionalism confirms the advanced position that the agency has reached in terms of professionalism and credibility.

Minister Ahmed Assaf said that Wafa’s receipt of this award comes under extremely difficult circumstances, and constitutes a clear message of support and backing for the Palestinian media, which has been and continues to be subjected to the most heinous forms of targeting by the Israeli occupation authorities, and has offered hundreds of martyrs during the recent aggression against our people.

Minister Assaf congratulated the agency’s family on this achievement, stressing that the award reinforces Wafa’s status as an icon of Palestinian media and a professional platform that reflects the national narrative with credibility and responsibility.

He also expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) for awarding the agency this prize, considering it a well-deserved recognition of its media and national role, while at the same time thanking the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, for his support and appreciation.

It is worth noting that the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA), which includes 57 countries, which is the total number of member states of the organization, opened its first external office in Palestine in March of last year at the headquarters of the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) in the city of Ramallah.
