UNA and the King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language will organize tomorrow a symposium on “Standards for Arabic Language Use in News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Countries.”

Jeddah (UNA) – A virtual symposium titled “Standards for Arabic Language Use in OIC News Agencies” will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, September 30, 2025, jointly organized by the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language.

The symposium comes within the framework of the Academy's interest in establishing linguistic standards and its efforts to regulate linguistic reality in various vital fields. It also aims to highlight the importance of developing unified linguistic standards that contribute to regulating media linguistic usage in official news agencies, capitalizing on the diverse expertise of these agencies, and bringing visions closer and sharing interests in this field.

The symposium aims to establish the foundation for regulating media performance by following precise scientific and technical standards. It also aims to emphasize the importance of quality control by establishing unified linguistic standards to regulate media linguistic usage and their impact on improving the linguistic practices of news agencies of international organizations. It also aims to introduce the Academy's work in developing linguistic policies and standards.

The meeting also discussed challenges in the field of media linguistic usage by OIC news agencies, in addition to discussing the establishment of partnerships between the Union and OIC news agencies in the field of linguistic standards for media work.
