Ouagadougou (INA) - Burkina Faso, which has not recorded any cases of Ebola hemorrhagic fever, postponed an African Union meeting in early September on employment and poverty due to fears of the spread of this highly contagious disease to the country. In a press conference, Foreign Minister Djibril Bassole announced in Ouagadougou the decision to postpone the extraordinary summit of the African Union to a later time, which was to be held between September 2 and 7 in Burkina Faso on employment, poverty eradication and comprehensive development. He added that the Ebola virus poses a major health challenge and hinders the holding of the summit in good conditions. The minister expressed his regret at postponing this summit and confirmed that his government is ready to host the summit on a new date to be agreed upon with the African Union Commission.
