NEW YORK (UNA) – The United States announced yesterday an additional $185 million in aid to Rohingya refugees. The bulk of the funds will go to those seeking asylum in neighboring Bangladesh, said US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, adding that the aid brings the total US humanitarian response to the crisis in Rakhine State to $389 million. The announcement came after a closed-door meeting hosted by British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt on the sidelines of the 73rd General Assembly at UN headquarters. (End) H S
