A delegation of Australian Muslims visits the library of the Prophet's Mosque

Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah (INA) – A delegation of Australian Muslims visited yesterday the Special Collections Department of the Prophet’s Mosque Library, where the head of the department, Yasser Al-Subhi, gave a brief overview of the department, its establishment, its components, its holdings, the works it performs, and the services it provides to researchers and students. The delegation was briefed on the original manuscripts and the Qur’an manuscripts in the department, the methods of maintaining manuscripts, how to sterilize them with an ozone gas device, methods of cleaning, chemical treatment and restoration, as well as the method of preserving these holdings in an exemplary manner. The delegation also saw the rare books hall in the department, which contains the oldest editions, as some of these books were printed back to 230 years ago, with the beginning of the thirteenth century AH. At the end of the visit, the delegation expressed its appreciation and admiration for the department and its holdings, works and services that are provided to all throughout the year.
