Al-Azhar condemns the international silence regarding the persecution of the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar

Cairo (INA) – Al-Azhar renewed its strong condemnation of the persecution and displacement of Muslim citizens in Myanmar, the burning of their homes and mosques, and the deprivation of the most basic citizenship rights. In a statement issued today, Al-Azhar called on the neighboring countries to assume their humanitarian responsibilities towards them, to receive them in their countries, and to provide them with a safe haven and a decent life for them. The Myanmar authorities must stop these practices, which violate all human norms and divine religions. The statement said: Al-Azhar is following with great concern what the media is broadcasting about the crisis of the Rohingya Muslims fleeing to the open sea, from the persecution they are subjected to in their homeland (Myanmar), as neighboring countries refused to receive them, and they are still waiting for the human conscience to move, to save them from the danger that threatens them. He threatens them every moment. (End) Ayman Muhammad
