The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, received in his office at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Organization in Jeddah, today, Tuesday, December 24, 2024, the Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the Organization, His Excellency Ambassador Maher Al-Karaki, who paid a farewell visit to the Secretary-General upon the end of his duties.
Ambassador Maher Al-Karaki expressed his thanks to the Secretary-General, on behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian people, for his continued support for the Palestinian cause and for confronting the aggression against Palestine, especially the Gaza Strip, through his efforts in the Ministerial Committee emanating from the Extraordinary Joint Arab-Islamic Summit on the Israeli Aggression against the Palestinian People, which was held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on November 11, 2023, stressing the important role of the Organization in supporting the Palestinian cause as the central issue.
Ambassador Maher Al-Karaki presented to the Secretary-General an updated report issued by the Office of the Prime Minister of the State of Palestine on the outcome of Israeli attacks. He indicated that the attacks were gradually extending towards the West Bank and Jerusalem, noting that Israel had taken advantage of the accelerating events in the Middle East to intensify its attacks on Palestine.
For his part, the Secretary-General stressed the centrality of the Palestinian cause to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and expressed his deep concern over the genocide and demolition of entire Palestinian cities by the Israeli occupation forces to which the Palestinian people are being subjected. The Secretary-General also expressed his determination to continue his efforts to confront these attacks through all international platforms within the framework of the Organization’s efforts to stop the aggression and restore all the usurped rights of the Palestinian people.
