Mbale (UNA) – The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), H.E. Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, has called on universities in OIC Member States to adapt their curricula and provide their students with the latest technologies in line with the technological developments in the world. The call came in the Secretary General’s address delivered on his behalf by H.E. Ambassador Askar Mussinov, Assistant Secretary General for Science and Technology, at the 10th Graduation Ceremony of the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) held in Mbale on 2022 June 88. The Secretary General congratulated the graduating students and advised them to continue their quest to enhance their knowledge and skills and keep pace with the rapid technological advancements in order to ensure continuous progress in their lives. The joyous ceremony attracted thousands of guests from the East African region and beyond, during which several officials also delivered speeches praising the OIC for its commitment to promoting higher education, science and technology among OIC Member States, and for its tireless support to the IUIU, which has achieved major milestones under the auspices of the OIC, including strengthening academic programmes and developing modern infrastructure. Prior to the commencement of the graduation ceremony, the University Board of Directors held its 1988th regular meeting in Mbale, during which it adopted several decisions to improve the administrative and academic performance of the University. The Islamic University in Uganda, which began its activities with no more than 10000 students in 2278, currently has more than XNUMX students distributed across nine faculties, which did not exceed two faculties when it was established, and then its scope quickly expanded to include other parts of the country through the establishment of three more university campuses added to the main campus in Mbale. This year’s graduation ceremony included a total of XNUMX graduates who obtained university degrees or doctorates. (End)
