The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation expresses its concern about the situation in the Yemeni governorates of Hadramawt and Al-Mahra.

Jeddah (UNA) – The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation expressed its concern about the military movements in the governorates of Hadramawt and Al-Mahra recently carried out by the Southern Transitional Council, which were done unilaterally without the approval of the Presidential Council or coordination with the Coalition forces, which may lead to an unjustified escalation.

The General Secretariat commends the good offices and efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency the President of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government to contain the situation.

The General Secretariat emphasizes the importance of cooperation among all Yemeni forces and factions to exercise restraint and avoid anything that could undermine security and stability, and to prioritize the public interest in order to restore peace and social security.

The General Secretariat reiterates the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s firm and supportive stance towards all efforts aimed at achieving security, peace and stability in Yemen, in a way that meets the aspirations of its people.
