Manama (UNA/BNA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the continued terrorist attacks launched by the Houthi terrorist militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with ballistic missiles and drones, especially the launching of ballistic missiles towards the regions of Mecca and Medina, which were intercepted and countered by Saudi air defenses.
The Ministry stressed that the Houthi terrorist militia’s continued targeting of civilian objects and vital facilities, and endangering the holiest places and their visitors, represents a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the provisions of international law and international humanitarian law, a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and stability, a blatant transgression against the sanctity and holiness of the Two Holy Mosques, and a provocation of the feelings of Muslims around the world.
The Ministry affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s full solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and its complete support for all measures taken by it to preserve its sovereignty, security and stability, protect its citizens and residents on its territory, maintain the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques and the safety of those who visit them, and its right to self-defense in accordance with Article (51) of the Charter of the United Nations, praising the efficiency and vigilance of the Saudi air defenses in confronting these attacks, and affirming that the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of the security of the Kingdom of Bahrain and all the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain’s call to the UN Security Council to take firm and deterrent measures to stop the repeated Houthi terrorist attacks, prevent threats to religious sanctuaries, civilian objects and civilian lives, hold perpetrators and supporters accountable, and ensure the implementation of its relevant resolutions, foremost among them Resolutions (2216) and (2817), in a manner that contributes to preserving regional and international peace and security.
