Baku (UNA/AZERTAC) – President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev assured participants at the Third High-Level Meeting of Heads of Anti-Corruption Bodies of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held in Baku, that Azerbaijan attaches particular importance to developing cooperation within the framework of the OIC, strengthening solidarity and mutual support, and is making continuous efforts in this direction.
He also stressed that corruption is a crime that undermines public trust in government institutions and harms social justice, fair competition, and economic development. In some cases, the transnational nature of this type of crime requires measures to be taken at both the national and international levels.
In this context, he explained that the Makkah Agreement on Cooperation between Law Enforcement Agencies in Combating Corruption in Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is a strategic document that establishes a unified legal framework in this field. He noted that Azerbaijan's accession to this agreement is of great importance in terms of developing international cooperation.
