Türkiye.. A 5.5-magnitude earthquake hits Adana

ANKARA (UNA/Anatolia) – A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck, on Tuesday, the southern Turkish province of Adana.

The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority, AFAD, said in a statement that the earthquake occurred at 08:44 (05:44 GMT) at a depth of 11.27 km.

She added that the earthquake occurred in the “Gozan” region of Adana state.

There were no immediate reports of damage from the quake.

In turn, the governor of Adana, Suleiman Alban, stated that the earthquake did not cause any damage according to preliminary data, indicating that survey work is continuing in the state.

Alban, in a statement to Anadolu Agency, expressed his wishes for safety to all citizens in Adana.

For his part, Younes Cesar, head of AFAD, confirmed that there has been no damage from the earthquake so far, and that field surveys are continuing.

Anadolu correspondent stated that an abandoned building was damaged in the state's Kozan district center, without human losses.​​​​​​​
